about Green Screens

NYC_Grn_Bird_TV.pngAs technology continues to evolve at a rapid pace, more and more consumers are looking to replace their outdated equipment with new, energy-efficient products. However, with technology constituting an estimated 87.5 percent of landfill toxic waste, it is vital for consumers to understand the importance of recycling technology in an environmentally responsible manner.

To make electronic recycling easier, Green is Universal has partnered with WNBC and GreeNYC to present Green Screens, an electronic recycling event.

WNBC
Our users have a distinct relationship with their city that goes beyond just calling it their place of residence. So with the help of the community, NBC Local Media uncovers and connects our users to all that the city has to offer so they can be true city insiders. The city is part of their identity; they draw a distinction between existing in the city and living in it. So we leverage our local resources with the knowledge of the local community to go beyond the obvious to enable access to untold stories, and the stories behind the stories. We want to help our passionate local user base know more so they can do more.
GreeNYC
Mayor Bloomberg can't reach the target of reducing carbon emissions by 30% by 2030 without you. You can make a difference. We all can.

By following some easy tips, you can save money as you save the environment and make New York City a healthier place to live. It doesn't take long to make some changes that will significantly shrink your carbon footprint.

Office of The Mayor
In December 2006, Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg challenged New Yorkers to generate ideas for achieving 10 key goals for the city's sustainable future. New Yorkers in all five boroughs responded. The result is the most sweeping plan to enhance New York's urban environment in the city's modern history. Focusing on the five key dimensions of the city's environment - land, air, water, energy, and transportation - we have developed a plan that can become a model for cities in the 21st century. The combined impact of this plan will not only help ensure a higher quality of life for generations of New Yorkers to come; it will also contribute to a 30% reduction in global warming emissions.

Council on the Environment of New York City
