UPDATE: Thanks to your enthusiasm, we reached our 1 million tree goal in just 2 days! The Arbor Day Foundation will be planting 1 million trees in our nation’s depleted forests because of your help. Stay tuned to our blog for more info about where the trees are being planted.

It’s that time of year again, when everyone can help make the world a little greener. During the month of December, Green is Universal and the Arbor Day Foundation are planting trees in our nation’s depleted forests through the Text for Trees campaign.

How does Text for Trees work? Text the word “TREE” to 46833 and we’ll plant a tree. It’s that simple! There’s no limit to how many times you can text and there’s no cost to you (standard msg & data rates may apply).

To meet our goal of 1 million trees, this year we’re offering even more ways to take an action for a tree – click, like, share, tweet or email your way to an entire forest. Click here to learn more.

Help us keep the number of trees growing by sharing with your friends on facebook. If you “like” us on facebook, that will count as a tree. If you tweet anything with the trending topic #text4trees, that will count as a tree. You can import all of your contacts from AOL, Yahoo!, Google and MSN email accounts, and each email you send will count as a tree. Click the button on our homepage, and even that will count as a tree.

As a “thank you” to our existing fans and followers on facebook and twitter, we have already added a tree.

We’re kicking things off during the 13th annual “Christmas in Rockefeller Center” broadcast on NBC so watch out for your favorite NBC stars at 8/7c tonight on NBC and text for trees!
