Is One Small Act Enough?

Yes! While it may not seem like much to put the empty spaghetti box in the recycling bin or turn off the lights when you leave the room, the impact of your one small act does make a big difference. Really. We’ve asked the experts and here are just a couple of green factoids we found out.

One Small Act #1: Replace old bulbs with CFL bulbs

The Collective Impact: If every American home replaced just one light bulb with a light bulb that’s earned the ENERGY STAR, we would save enough energy to light 3 million homes for a year, save about $600 million in annual energy costs, and prevent 9 billion pounds of greenhouse gas emissions per year, equivalent to those from about 800,000 cars. One Small Act #2: Pay bills online

The Collective Impact: If every American household used eBills and online bill pay, it could reduce solid waste in U.S. landfills by more than 800,000 tons a year and help curb the release of greenhouse gases by 2.1 million tons. This could also save an estimated 18.5 million trees a year! (Source: Javelin Strategy and Research)
