I'm taking action by sheding light on those that don't practice what they preach and demand that those promoting a green policy actually adhear to that policy. As part of that, I would like MSNBC to discuss the reasons they are promoting today as "Paperless Monday" but we've seen more paper on the news anchor's desk and in correspondent's hands than ever before. Is ?green? really universal at Universal? It does not appear to be.

I just bought a Honda Civic Hybrid. It has ZERO emissions and I get almost twice the gas mileages as I used to and I can use regular gas as opposed to high octane gas.
Our family has been recycling forever and we try to reuse bags, containers, bottles, boxes, etc., as often as possible. We try to reduce our waste by growing many of our own vegetables and we give away things like our empty egg cartons to a local egg farm for reuse. Also, we're slowly switching over to the longer burning, energy efficient bulbs throughout our home.
I think everyone one can do at least one or two things differently that protect or enrich our environment and it will have an impact.
It sickens me when I see people carelessly toss trash out their car windows or kick trash out of their way rather than pick it up and put it where it belongs.
Our society has become hooked on disposable everything. It's time to turn that disposable way of thinking around.

I built a totally green home six years ago in Scottsdale, AZ.
NO wood frame, all cement/concrete...used everything incl the windows, doors. Straw ceilings.
Homes here cost? One million and more!
The home is a cottage: 2300 SF no master bath, etc.
Fuel bills? $60mo and that is in Arizona!
It comes down to what you care about. I work out of my home and drive a car that gets 30 mgp. By limiting my optional travel I fill up about once a month.
I could make more money commuting into the city but not so much it makes financial sense to do so. I live in a smaller place than I can afford but somehow impressing those who buy McMansions isn't as important as knowing I'm making a difference for those who come after me.
There is always room in our busy lives for what really matters. Do you love your children? Leave the world a better place than you got from your parents.
I just joined the SIFE (Students In Free Enterprise)team at Montana State University. Part of the club is to come up with a project that improves the community. We came up with 5 projects centered around the environment. We are just starting this now and are working on a fundraiser so we can start implementing our plans. Since we do not have everthing in place yet, I think I can only say that the campaign is going to be called "B" Environmentally Friendly. I am very excited about the areas we are going to pursue. I am going to start a webpage on it, so if anyone would like to follow our progress, or if anyone has some suggestions, please e-mail us at msusife@aol.com.

I just wanted to say that we have finally started going green and knowing we are getting rid of the toxins in our home and creating a healthier environment for our children and families is truly a joy.
When I realized it was time for a career change, I decided to start my own business selling eco-friendly household products and educating consumers about their choices. I've learned so much myself in the process!
I have been recycling for years, composting, reusing paper and glass products,organic gardening, turning off and unplugging appliances,etc. I am glad to see how others are doing their part and others are starting.
Has anyone had a chance to check out all of the submissions? It is very inspirational. I want to know which one is your favorite and why? My personal favorite is the video submission by Charlie Szoradi and his family. It was very cool how they showed their complete project from start to finish.
As the president of my condo association, I realized just how much waste we were generating by printing and mailing every little notification to every community resident. I started a website, www.NeighborHuddle.com, to help community associations simplify their operations and reduce their environmental impact. I also present green information that the average person can understand and implement. By spreading my the message to all my communities and exponentially to their residents, the possibilities are vast and exciting!
I have been an eco-girl for years and when I became a mom I felt even a stronger sense to be as environmentally conscious as possible. I am proud of all the people out there that have taken the walk to the eco-side, but I am still encountering everyday all those people who haven't. I started a eco-blog called Eco-mama addressing issues facing parents who wish to be more eco-friendly. I hope to make a difference, but mostly I am so happy to be part of a community of people who care about our mother earth and our fellow human beings! Keep up the eco-preaching!
I have no children. I grew up in a family of 7 and with 5 children, we produced only 2 offspring.
I also ride my bike to work.
I've always been "geen", but I am more frustrated now seeing this new patented propane powered lawn mower available that costs 80% toxic emissions, 60% particulate emissons (we're designated "non-attainment" in air quality), saves 30%+/- $ over gas & diesel, runs longer time with less maintenance and more benefits. HELP INFORM THE PUBLIC IT'S AVAILABLE???!!!!! PLEASE. I love fresh air and fresh cut grass; don't you?
