We had 74 volunteers work the Earth Day Going Green NBCU/GE Volunteers event. Employees came from NBCU Volunteers as well as GE Volunteers, Groundwork Dallas, and the Jubilee Park neighborhood.

We planted 2,000 plants and put mulch over an entire street median - the whole block - the 4500 Block of Ash Lane in the Jubilee Park neighborhood of Dallas.

This particular neighborhood has been depressed and crime was taking over 10 years ago. The neighbors have turned the neighborhood around these past 10 years by getting grants from the City of Dallas, partnering with non-profits like Habitat for Humanty to build quailty homes for homeowners, beautification projects like the one we did Tuesday, and projects with a church and other corporations. They built a community center that now has after-school programs and GED programs. They started a business association and a neighborhood association. They have installed surveillance cameras and are building a police station storefront. It was a wonderful neighborhood to help.
